Chloë is a singer, choral director, and academic musician.
In possession of ‘a powerful mezzo voice and an arresting stage presence’ (Plays to See), she has wide-ranging concert and stage experience and is a highly sought-after vocal coach who achieves excellent results for all her singers. She directs a diverse range of choirs at high calibre musical institutions, including The Purcell School for Young Musicians and the Priory Church of St Peter, Dunstable. She has a PhD from the Music Faculty of the University of Cambridge, researching 12th-century Parisian vocal music, where she now teaches undergraduate history, analysis and tonal skills.
These diverse disciplines complement each other. Her academic skills help her craft thoughtful and compelling performances based on a close understanding of the composer’s creative decisions. Her singing and vocal coaching shapes her choral direction, which centres around ensuring relaxed, free and sustainable singing. Her academic background and singing come together in her direction of Marginalia Performance, a collective for whom she creates unique events that bring research to life for audiences and also re-energise well-known repertoire by exploring it from different perspectives..
