Chloe is one of the most inspiring teachers I have ever worked with. She combines the highest level of vocal and musical coaching with an instinctive and academically informed approach to song texts, and draws out the subtlest of musical nuance in a way that is clear and easy to understand. She is comprehensive in her preparation for every student at every level, and is kind, calm, methodical and well-organised. Her outstanding results speak for themselves. She is an exceptional musician, mentor, and teacher.

Vocal Lessons
I have extensive experienced teaching young people and adults with many and varied musical aims. From 2020-25, I taught at Cranleigh School, one of the leading independent schools in the South East. In 2024, I was appointed the Choral Director at the Purcell School for Young Musicians, the specialist music school in Bushey. As well as directing choirs, this involves coaching soloists for choral concerts and last year’s opera ‘Dido and Aeneas’. I have also taught at Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School in South London, preparing the trebles for roles with the Royal Opera House and Opera Holland Park.
More about vocal lessons
I teach everyone, from young singers to adults, from beginners to experienced singers. I prepare singers for ABRSM and Trinity singing and musical theatre exams and have a 90% distinction rate at grade 6+ and diploma level.
I also teach those who are looking to improve technique or sightreading in order to enjoy their choral singing more, or those who simply want to improve their singing whilst exploring diverse and interesting repertoire.
I have a clear and consistent approach to building a solid technical foundation, but I also firmly believe that producing a beautiful sound is only half the job as a singer. I challenge students to think carefully about what they are singing, poetically and dramatically, at whatever level they are working, since this is the only way a singer can really engage their audience. I also encourage singers to take their sightreading and wider musical development seriously, as it is often these skills which open doors into choral and ensemble singing.
Theory & Academic Support
I have a starred first class degree and subsequently a PhD from Cambridge University, where I now teach harmony and counterpoint, tonal composition, analysis and music history. I have taught music theory online for 5 years. It is a reliable vehicle for lessons and allows students a great degree of flexibility to learn around their other commitments.
More about online theory lessons
Music theory is best learnt gradually, alongside practical lessons, but usually there comes a point where students need to pass their Grade 5 quickly. I offer a fast track course, building on whatever pre-existing knowledge a student has to get them to Grade 5 as efficiently as possible, whilst still building the solid foundation they need to move ahead with their practical music-making. 95% of my students have achieved merits or distinctions at Grade 5. I teach up to Grade 8 theory for students with an interest in developing their skills further.
More about academic support and Oxbridge preparation
As well as teaching at Cambridge, I have interviewed for undergraduate admissions for several years and have a first-hand understanding of what Directors of Studies are looking for at interview. I have also lectured on the Sutton Trust Summer School, which prepares pupils from underprivileged backgrounds for Oxbridge applications.
I can provide advice on personal statements and how to extend thought beyond your A-level course. I can help develop aural, harmony, counterpoint and analytical skills that are tested at interview but not taught on every A-level course. I can also offer interview practice.
*If you have been at a state school since at least the age of 13, please get in touch as I may be able to offer reduced rate support.
