I am delighted to announce that I have been selected as one of three St Martin in the Fields Associate Choral Leaders. I will be working as part of their vibrant music department and to build up the music-making at Dunstable Priory Church. On top of our weekly Sunday services, our first big event is an evensong for the Church’s dedication festival at 4pm on the 15th of October – featuring music by Stanford, Goodall and Forbes L’Estrange. All are welcome!
The Priory Choir is currently a very enthusiastic group of young people with some excellent potential. My philosophy when working with young people is to be encouraging, but at the same time to set high standards. In my experience, children do not set their own limitations and are extremely happy to achieve very highly if the adults facilitating their music making believe that they can. I am relishing the new challenge and it is particularly exciting to have a connection with St Martins which will provide us with resources to support our more ambitious projects at the outset.
